Any personal data processed by British Airways in connection with this Privacy Notice is controlled by British Airways Plc with registered address at Waterside (HCB3), PO Box 365, Harmondsworth, UB7 0GB, UK (hereinafter “we”/“our”/“us”/”British Airways”). We know how important your privacy is and will take great care to safeguard it. Our key principles are founded on honesty, objectivity, confidentiality and transparency.
The British Airways online community is named The British Airways Future Lab (“Future Lab”) and has engaged a third-party supplier called STRAT7ResearchBods for consumer insight work to improve products and services.
We will share your personal data with STRAT7ResearchBods (“The Supplier”/“them”/ “they”) as they are the company that has helped us create our Future Lab. We do this so that they can provide services to us, for example creating research activities for or assisting us if there are any technical issues with the Future Lab. We share your personal data with them to carry out market research and analysis. We ensure that your personal data is shared with The Supplier in accordance with Data Protection Laws and we have a contract with them which requires us and them to observe your data protection rights.
For the purposes of this Privacy Notice, the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK GDPR and any legislation replacing or amending them, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and all other applicable laws and regulations relating to data protection and privacy (Data Protection Laws), British Airways is the data controller of your personal data. The Supplier performs services for us as a data processor.
This Notice (together with our Terms of use) only applies to the research activities as part of the Future Lab and sets out the basis on which any personal data collected, or that you provide to The Supplier, will be processed by them on behalf of us. Personal data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
STRAT7Researchbods are a consumer insight agency. They run online communities and panels in which they invite consumers to share their views on their clients’ businesses, products and services. They offer ancillary services such as analysis on global consumer trends which does not involve the transfer of personal data.
The Supplier collects information from you which may include your name, address, private or corporate e-mail address, your phone number and any other information you choose to share with us.
You provide this information at different times, for example:
The Supplier may initially obtain your personal data from other sources (if you have given your consent) or market research companies that hold personal data of people who have indicated willingness to join consumer panels.
If this is the case, The Supplier will inform you and bring to your attention this Privacy Notice including the fact they hold personal data about you, the source the personal data originates from and whether it came from publicly accessible sources, and for what purposes they intend to retain and process your personal data.
If they have contacted you and you would like your name to be removed from their database, please follow the “unsubscribe me” procedure in any Future Lab emails they send to you. They will remove you from their database as soon as reasonably practicable.
The Supplier are working closely with third parties including companies within their Group, business partners, sub-contractors in technical, professional, payment and other services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers, credit reference agencies and professional advisors.
Under Data Protection Laws, we must have a lawful basis for holding and processing your personal data. We and The Supplier will rely on your consent to process your personal data to run surveys and market research. We and The Supplier may also rely on their legitimate interests to run the Programme. If this is the case, we and The Supplier will balance our interests against your interests, fundamental rights and freedoms to ensure your personal data is processed fairly. We ask The Supplier to hold your personal data to fulfil the terms of their contract with us in respect of the Future Lab. When you register to be part of the Future Lab you agree to Terms and Conditions of Use and a contract then exists between them and you for your access to the research activities.
The Supplier may also ask for your consent at the relevant time to participate in specific other activities connected to the Future Lab, such as a video or audio recording.
The Supplier does not use your personal data for their own marketing and they do not transfer your personal data to third parties for the purposes of marketing. We may have the right to market our goods and services to you.
Generally, The Supplier does not collect special category data and will only do so if you provide it to them and provide your explicit consent to their uses of that information. Sensitive or special category data includes information relating to racial or ethnic origin, physical or mental health, sex life or political opinion.

Given that the Internet is a global environment, using the Internet to collect and process personal data necessarily involves the transmission of data on an international basis. Therefore, by communicating electronically with them you acknowledge their processing of personal data in this way.
If you participate in online surveys, polls or other activities on the Future Lab platform, the information you post will only be visible to us and them.
The Supplier provides us with data files containing your answers to surveys questions to help inform us about specific elements of our offer. Even if you do not complete a survey they may share any information from unfinished surveys or with incomplete answers with us. They may, on occasion, match your answers to other information held about you on their database.
We may combine data collected from the Future Lab with other data that we may hold about you. If you are not happy with your responses being used in this way, you should notify The Supplier prior to agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of Use. They can then determine with us whether the use of your data can be limited and whether it is possible to take part.

They work with third parties providing them with technical professional, payment and other services, and professional advisors. They may disclose information about you to the third parties for the purposes of fulfilling the Terms and Conditions of Use. Their contracts with third parties impose obligations on them in relation to the processing of personal data in line with Data Protection Laws.
The Supplier may disclose your personal information to a third party at any time if we appoint such third party to run the Future Lab instead of them, or if we ask them to work together with a third party service provider in connection with the Future Lab, but they will only share your information for purposes which are consistent with this Privacy Notice.
The Supplier may disclose your personal information to third parties in the event that they sell or buy any business or assets, in which case they may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets, but only for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice.
They may disclose information in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceeding if they are required to do so by the government or other law enforcement agencies or in connection with the investigation of unlawful activities.
In addition, The Supplier may disclose such information to law enforcement authorities as they reasonably feel is necessary. They also the right to disclose your identity to any third party who is claiming that any material posted or uploaded by you as part of the Future Lab constitutes a violation of their intellectual property rights or of their right to privacy.
Except as described in this Privacy Notice and the Cookies Notice, they will not disclose any of your personal information to any third party without your permission.
The Supplier understands their legal duty to retain accurate data and only retain personal data for as long as they need it on our behalf. Accordingly, they have a data retention policy and run regular data routines to remove data that they no longer have a legitimate business interest in maintaining.
They segregate their data so that they keep different types of data for different time periods. The criteria they use to determine whether they should retain your personal data includes:
The Supplier may archive part of all of your personal data, deleting all or part of it from the Future Lab database. They may pseudonymise parts of your data, particularly following a request for suppression or deletion of your data, to ensure that they do not re-enter your personal data on to their database, unless requested to do so.
For your information, Pseudonymised Data is created by taking identifying fields within a database and replacing them with artificial identifiers, or pseudonyms.

You have the right to withdraw from taking part in the Future Lab. If you no longer wish to be part of it, you may request that your personal information be removed from their list at any time by following the “unsubscribe me” procedures in their emails or via your profile on the Future Lab. Please note that failure to follow the correct procedure could delay the removal of your information. They will process your request as soon as reasonably practical; however, there may be a gap between the time when they receive your request and the time when they are able to remove your information. Therefore, you may receive a few more emails before the request is processed.

You have the right to ask The Supplier to destroy a record of your response to a survey, poll or other activities as part of the Future Lab after you have submitted your answers and they will ensure that your response is not used in their analysis provided that they have not already shared it with us.

The research activities (as part of the Future Lab) may, from time to time, contain links to external websites. If you follow a link to any external websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we and The Supplier do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.
The personal data that The Supplier collects from you may/will be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA). It may be transferred to third parties outside of the UK or the EEA for the purpose of their services. It may/will also be processed by staff operating outside the UK and the EEA who work for The Supplier or for one of their suppliers. This will always be in line with Data Protection Laws and will include using appropriate safeguards such as the execution of appropriate data transfer agreements incorporating European Commission approved Standard Contractual Clauses along with other safeguards where appropriate or confirming other controls to comply with UK data protection requirements.
The Supplier is committed to maintaining the security of the data they collect and take appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure and they cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted as part of the research activities you take part in; any transmission is at your own risk.
